Funny that the same gift idea a grandchild will cherish can be the same gift that grandma and grandpa will cherish for years. Time is precious and can be short, so enjoy those early childhood years together. Enjoy the thrill of a new baby with plenty of pictures of baby and grandparents. It may be one of the most precious gifts your whole family will cherish. Times change, people move, grandparents become frail. Keep those special newborn memories alive. Frame a favorite picture and give as a gift to the whole family.
A one year old will respond to interaction like no other time in their little lives. Their energy, desire to learn and curiosity are easy to fulfill with play time together. Go ahead, get down on the floor (you’ll be able to get back up!).
A walk hand-in-hand is still my favorite thing to do with my first grandson. Once he started walking, he just wanted to walk – so did his Nana. We make a great duo waddling through the neighborhood.
The excitement of the world when a child is walking and beginning to put several words together is such a fun – and exhausting – time. Enjoy that crazy time. But take time for quiet times like a special book to read together or getting a little one ready for bed in their favorite jammies.
Children under two years of age may be the easiest age to please for us adults– as long as you’re ready to jump in and spend some time together cuddling, playing, walking and talking, reading a book and preparing for bedtime. Time can be the most precious gift for grandchild and for grandparents at the same time!
